Position Summary
Suffolk Transportation is seeking an IT Specialist with focus on desktop support, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and cybersecurity to deliver hands-on end-user support across our office and operational environments. This role is the primary contact for employee technology issues and is responsible for keeping our physical and virtual desktop environment running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
End-User & Desktop Support
• Provide tier 1 and tier 2 support for desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals, and application support.
• Support Windows OS, Microsoft 365, email (Outlook/Exchange, Teams, and VoIP phones.
• Image, deploy, and refresh end-user hardware across multiple sites.
• Onboard and offboard users, account access provisioning, hardware setup, access management, and end-user training.
• Administer Microsoft Active Directory, Intune Mobile Device Manager, and SharePoint.
• Manage the ticket queue, document resolutions, and maintain knowledge base articles.
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
• Administer and support AWS Workspaces and AWS AppStream 2.0 environments.
• Troubleshoot VDI session, performance, profile, and application delivery issues.
• Manage user assignments, bundles, images, and directory integration for AWS Workspaces and AppStream.
Network & Fiber Infrastructure
• Support fiber, structured cabling, switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Troubleshoot network outages and performance issues.
• Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for installs and repairs.
Cybersecurity & Systems Protection
• Monitor and maintain endpoint protection, MFA, and email security on end-user devices.
• Respond to security incidents, alerts, and potential threats affecting endpoints and user accounts.
• Manage endpoint patching, vulnerability remediation, and access controls.
Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of IT support experience with a strong focus on desktop/end-user support.
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting VDI environments – specifically AWS WorkSpaces and AWS AppStream 2.0
• Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory/Entra ID fundamentals.
• Experience in fiber or structured cabling environments. Excellent customer service, communication and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Cybersecurity experience and CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+).
• AWS certifications (Cloud Practitioner, SysOps Administrator, or related).
• Experience with firewalls, VPNs, PowerShell scripting and endpoint management tools (Intune, SCCM, or equivalent).
• Experience supporting users across multiple physical sites.
Salary Range:
$75,000.00 - $105,000.00
